A sense of space by Adam Beard
When I am out walking I will often be left with impressions that I then try to represent in my paintings. While my inspiration comes from real places, my intention is not to accurately portray a particular scene, but to capture the mood and feeling of a place.
Over the past two years I have been particularly inspired by winter scenes. Working with very little colour, I have tried to capture the simplicity of the snow-covered land. I am especially inspired by open landscapes, and try to capture the sense of space and the quality of the light, whether it be reflected off a snow-covered field or breaking through a gap in the clouds.
All the works on show are painted in oil on canvas, paper or board.
